Living By Faith

OUR IDENTIFICATION WITH CHRIST

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. (Galatians 2:20)

When Jesus was crucified, He took you with Him because He took
your identical condition.
Mark Hankins

I heard the story of a fireman in California whose hand was so severely burned that his doctors determined they would have to amputate. One of the doctors wanted to try experimental surgery; he knew that the body has certain regenerative powers. He cut the man’s side open and inserted the burned hand for a period of time. To the doctor’s amazement, when they removed the fireman’s hand from his side, it had begun to heal and grow new skin.

I believe God did a similar surgery with man. When Adam sinned, man’s condition was so bad it looked like God would have to amputate, but God had a plan of redemption. He cut open Jesus’ side and put us “in Christ.” In Him, the power and the grace of God went to work and reversed the condition that Satan had caused. A new man was created — a man in Christ — a righteous man, a victorious man, a redeemed man, a healed man!

Confession: The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
