Living By Faith

“LEGO” BIBLE BUILDING BLOCKS

Whosoever shall say…believe those things which he saith…he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mark 11:23)

“Words are the building blocks of faith.” –Mark Hankins

In Mark 11:23, Jesus said “believe” once. He said “say” or “saith” three times. The speaking part is vital to faith. Faith is released or put to work by speaking.

Jesus used three different Greek words for the speaking part of faith in Mark11:23. The first “say” is the Greek word epo, which means command. It shows the authority of the believer. The second reference to speaking that Jesus used was the word “saith.”  This word in the Greek is laleo, which means to speak out; use your own voice; be bold!  The third reference to speaking is also the word saith.  However, this Greek word is lego; it means systematic discourse.

Jesus was giving us a lego set of building blocks to teach us how to frame our world according to the picture or diagram He has given us in the Word of God. The Bible gives us a lego set of building blocks for salvation, healing, blessing, prosperity, and victory in life. Take the Word of God and build.

Confession: I have victory in Jesus. My life is blessed! My future is built on the Word of God!

MAN IS A “SPEAKING SPIRIT”

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis2:7)

“Your words custom design and specifically shape your own future.” –Mark Hankins

I recently read an interesting article titled, “The Gift of Gab,” by Matt Catmill. He wrote that speech is a skill that makes homo sapiens a uniquely successful, powerful, and dangerous mammal. He said, “Without language, we would be only a sort of upright chimpanzee with funny feet and clever hands.”

God created man in His own image with the capacity to speak and communicate. A Hebrew scholar once said that Genesis 2:7 could better be translated that “man became a speaking spirit.” Man was made a speaking spirit and given dominion. The power of speech was a major distinguishing factor between man and the animal kingdom.

You can see that language is unique to man. Satan also recognizes the power of spoken words and is constantly trying to get man to speak words that contaminate, defile, and destroy. We have the power to choose blessing or cursing, life or death — So choose life!

Confession: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.  (Psalm 19:14)

BY YOUR WORDS

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile. (I Peter 3:10)

“Change your words and change your world!” – Mark Hankins

Your words will make you or break you. Your words determine the boundaries of your life. The speech center is the dominion center of your being. Your tongue will determine the direction, destination, and quality of your life! (James 3, 1 Peter 3:10)

When you go to a doctor, the first thing he does is look at your tongue. When you go to God with a problem, the first thing He says is, “Say Ahh! I see the problem. It’s written all over your tongue!”

James 3:2-5 in the Message Bible tells us how important our words are: “If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you’d have a perfect person, imperfect control of life. A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets course in the face of the strongest wind. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly everything – or destroy it!”

Confession: I will refrain my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking guile. I will love life and see good days! (1 Peter 3:10)

THE SPEECH CENTER EXERCISES DOMINION

Forbythywordsthoushaltbejustified,andby thywordsthoushaltbecondemned. (Matthew12:37)

“The speech center is the dominion center for our lives.” – Mark Hankins

A leading neurosurgeon said that researchers have recently discovered that the speech center in the brain exercises dominion over the whole central nervous system. He said that certain parts of the human brain are able to cause different parts of the body to respond to stimuli. The speech center has even greater influence; when the speech center is stimulated, the whole central nervous system responds.

This means that when anyone says, “I am weak,” the speech center sends out the message to the whole body to prepare to be weak. This must be the reason God said, “Let the weak say, I am strong.” (Joel 3:10)

The Message Bible tells us in Matthew 12:37, “Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”

This may be a new discovery to medical science, but the Bible has revealed this fact for thousands of years. Medical science is finally finding out what the Bible has been saying all along!

Confession: I am strong. I am blessed. God’s Word in my mouth gives me life and salvation!

NEVER RUN AT YOUR GIANT WITH YOUR MOUTH SHUT

ThisdaytheLordwilldeliveryouintomyhand…thatall theearthmayknowthatthereisaGodinIsrael. (1Samuel17:46)

“If you are silent, you lose by default.” –Mark Hankins

1 Samuel 17 records the classic story of David and Goliath. The realbattle was won before David actually killed Goliath. A war of words had to be won before victory could be consummated. The story went something like this: Goliath said…David said…Goliath said…David said…David ran toward the Philistine…David prevailed over the Philistine. David won the war of words before He won the victory!

The Lord spoke these words to me as a key to killing my giants: “Never run at your giant with your mouth shut!” Before we can receive and do all that God has for us in life, there will be giants that must be conquered. As you may know, some of these giants can be quite persistent. Just keep on running at those giants with your mouth speaking the Word of God. The Word releases God’s power to win in every conflict!

Confession: And He hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me,and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me. (Isaiah 49:2)
