MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER

And how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power is the same as the mighty strength which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world. (Ephesians 1:19-20 | Good News Bible)

“Christ’s resurrection was more than a triumph over rigor mortis; it was a triumph over all the forces that held us in bondage!” – Mark Hankins

Paul used four different words for power in an attempt to describe what great power was released in the resurrection of Christ:

  dunamis= dynamite; ability

  energia= energy; operative power in exercise

  kratos= manifested strength

  ischuos= an endowment of strength

Paul said this power, power, power, power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead is not just great but exceeding great. Paul said that this power is great beyond measure — surpassing power — more than enough power.

Confession: The same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in me! This power is overwhelmingly great, incomparably great, immeasurable and unlimited! “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.” (Ephesians 1:19)

THE EXCEEDING GREATNESS OF HIS POWER

And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. (Ephesians 1:19 |NKJV)

“The power that raised Christ from the dead made Him supremely triumphant over hell and all its hosts!” -Mark Hankins

The resurrection of Christ was evidently the greatest display of omnipotence ever set forth, surpassing even that of creation. Paul prayed that we would get a revelation of the power that was released in the resurrection of Christ.

When God raised the body of Jesus, the material substance of His body changed so dramatically that from that time on that Jesus had no difficulty walking through solid walls. Somehow the very structure of the atoms of his body was altered.  This took tremendous power — even more power than God used to create matter in the beginning.

This is what Paul had in mind in his prayer for the Church. Not just the power that was loosed in His body in His triumph over physical death, but also the power that was unleashed spiritually in His triumph over hell and all its forces! That is the power that is at work in us now!

Confession: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.  (Ephesians 3:20)

THE RICHES OF HIS GLORY

And what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.  (Ephesians1:18)

“God intends for you to live in two worlds—to function in this natural world, but also to operate according to His unseen world.” –Mark Hankins

Growing up as a pastor’s kid, my family did not enjoy a luxurious lifestyle by any means. However, I always sensed that God wanted to make me rich. (Rich means abundantly provided for.) Once I started studying God’s Word, I began to get a glimpse of my redemption in Christ. I found out that I had been redeemed from the curse of the law, (Galatians 3:13) that the blessing of the Lord makes me rich and adds no sorrow with it, (Proverbs 10:22) and that God has made me the head and not the tail. (Deuteronomy 28)

Paul said in Romans 8:17 that you are an heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ. By the spirit of wisdom and revelation, you access the inheritance that is yours through Christ. As a member of the body of Christ, you have an inheritance to claim that is beyond anything you could ever ask, dream, or imagine!

Confession: It is my Father’s good pleasure to give me the kingdom! I am an heir of God and joint heir with Christ! (Luke 12:32, Romans 8:17)

THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

“The spirit of wisdom and revelation is necessary and mandatory for a believer to access the call, the inheritance, and the authority we have as believers.” –Mark Hankins

The moment you are born again in Christ, you possess a supernatural calling and identity in your spirit. That is why it takes the spirit of wisdom and revelation to open the eyes of your heart to access who you are and what God has called you to do.

God told Jeremiah, “I called you before you were ever born. Now, let me tell you who you are. Don’t say you are something different. Say that you are who I say you are.”

Each one of us has a call of God on our lives. We have a choice. We can function in a lower calling, bumping around in God’s permissive will for the rest of our lives, or we can press for the high calling of God. The high calling will always cost you more than the low calling; however, the high calling will bring far greater rewards!

Confession: I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)

THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him… (Ephesians 1:17)

“I want to know how God created this world… I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details.” – Albert Einstein

On October 14, 1947, Captain Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager became the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound. With this historic flight, Yeager ushered in the beginning of America’s launch into outer space and NASA’s modern space shuttle program.

Breaking the sound barrier also broke the fear of the unknown. Yeager later described his supersonic flight as “A poke through jell-o,”  “Sipping lemonade on the front porch,” and “A perfectly paved speedway.” The real barrier was not in the sky; it was in man’s lack of knowledge regarding supersonic flight.

Christians often face challenges and barriers in doing God’s will. Even the most difficult barriers can be broken, and believers can go to places in God they have never been. The Apostle Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1 contains the necessary ingredients for every Christian to breakthrough any barriers they face. Paul called this necessary ingredient the “spirit of wisdom and revelation.”

Confession: I have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ!
