Living By Faith

FIRST ADAM, LAST ADAM

For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (Romans 5:19)

“The mystery of how you got here as damaged goods is solved in the Bible.” -Mark Hankins

Your identification with Christ is based on several spiritual laws. One of those laws is simply this: your first birth identified you with Adam. The whole Bible is really about two men – the first Adam and the last Adam. The old man is from Adam. The new man is Christ, who is called the last Adam.

The same law that allowed one man, Adam, to affect every man is also the same law that allowed Jesus Christ, the last Adam, to take the condition of sin, the curse, shame, and death. In His resurrection, God deposited everything in Christ that He wanted in man. God put in Christ what He wanted in you.

The power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ identifies you with a whole new humanity — a whole new creation. You are not the same person anymore! You can no longer identify only with your natural family. You are now identified with Christ!

Confession: I am a new creature in Christ! Old things are passed away. I am not the same person anymore! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

OUR IDENTIFICATION WITH CHRIST

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. (Galatians 2:20)

“When Jesus was crucified, He took you with Him because He took your identical condition.” -Mark Hankins

I heard the story of a fireman in California whose hand was so severely burned that his doctors determined they would have to amputate. One of the doctors wanted to try experimental surgery; he knew that the body has certain regenerative powers.  He cut the man’s side open and inserted the burned hand for a period of time. To the doctor’s amazement, when they removed the fireman’s hand from his side, it had begun to heal and grow new skin.

I believe God did a similar surgery with man. When Adam sinned, man’s condition was so bad it looked like God would have to amputate, but God had a plan of redemption. He cut open Jesus’ side and put us “in Christ. In Him, the power and the grace of God went to work and reversed the condition that Satan had caused. A new man was created — a man in Christ — a righteous man, a victorious man, a redeemed man, a healed man!

Confession: The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND REVELATION

And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever. (John 14:16)

“The Holy Spirit is a genius. If we listen to Him, He will make us look smart!” – B.B.Hankins

The Holy Spirit knows everything! If we would listen and respond to the Holy Spirit, we could avoid trouble in every area of our lives. We must learn to yield to and not resist the Holy Spirit.

In Greek, the word yield means “when a soldier presents himself to his commanding officer for orders.” This word yield shows us how important it is for each of us to daily acknowledge, recognize, and respond to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus emphasized a relationship with the Holy Spirit–our Helper and Strengthener. If we did not need a vital relationship with the Holy Spirit, Jesus would not have sent Him to live in us. Holy Spirit is the One who puts us over in life. The Spirit of God lives in us, and He is there to help us in every area of our lives. In this relationship, the Holy Spirit will show us truth, teach us truth, and guide us into all truth.

Confession: The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, dwells in me. He is a genius. I will listen and respond to Him, and He will guide me into all truth.

CRY OUT FOR WISDOM

Yea if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding…Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:3,5)

“Let the Holy Spirit paint a picture in your heart of you and Jesus seated together at the right hand of God in heavenly places.” – Mark Hankins

Let your spirit cry out for the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Stick with it until you truly see what God has done for you in Christ and you understand who you are and what you have in Him. Set your mind on the reality of your redemption.

Let the Holy Spirit paint a picture in your heart of you and Jesus seated together at the right hand of God in heavenly places. Then look down and say, “Devil, you are way down there, and I’m seated far above you with Jesus! God gave me the very life of Christ Himself–the God-kind of life and victory. He gave me Heaven’s joy, Heaven’s love, and Heaven’s life. I’m blessed right now with every spiritual blessing, and you are under my feet!”

Confession: Holy Spirit I cry out for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. The Spirit of God is in me and on me right now. I have been born of God and I am seated with Christ in heavenly places! (Ephesians 2:6)

PURSUING YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST

For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

“A breakthrough in revelation enables us to see what God sees.” –Mark Hankins

Once you have seen the scenery from your seat next to Jesus at the right hand of God, you won’t ever want to go back to life as it used to be. Other people may listen to a sermon on their identity in Christ and say, “Praise the Lord.  That was a good point,” but you will be thinking, “That wasn’t just a good point, that’s the way I live! I am who Jesus says I am! I have what He says I have! He lives in me, and I ALWAYS triumph in Him!”

Believers must have a deep revelation of their position in Christ. Even in the worst situations in life, you can laugh at the devil. Your mind may be going crazy with stress and pressure as you try to think about what you are going to do. You need to stop and begin to meditate on what God’s Word says about who you are in Christ. You need to see things from God’s perspective. God sees you seated with Christ in heavenly places.

Confession: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! By the blood of Jesus, I overcome all the works of the devil! (2 Corinthians 5:21, Revelation 12:11)
