Living By Faith

NEW IDENTITY

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:10)

Put off the old man, with his old ways of thinking, old actions, and old attitudes. Mark Hankins

Paul used these “in Christ” scriptures in Ephesians and Colossians to tell you what God has done for you in Christ. Begin to acknowledge these scriptures where Paul talked about who you are and what you have in Christ.

  • In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians 1:7)
  • And you hath he quickened. (Ephesians 2:1)
  • And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6)
  • In him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him. (Colossians 2:9-10)
  • For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Confession: I have a new identity. In Christ, I have redemption through His blood. In Christ I am complete!

ACKNOWLEDGING EVERY GOOD THING IN CHRIST

My prayer is that your fellowship with us in our common faith may deepen the understanding of all the blessings that our union with Christ brings us.(Philemon 6 New English Bible)

We cannot do anything without Him, but in Him, we can do anything! Mark Hankins

What you are acknowledging must center around four main areas:

1.  What God has done for you in Christ Jesus in the plan of

    redemption.

              2. Who you are now and what you have now in Christ.

 3.  What God can do through you by the Word and the Holy

    Spirit.

4.  What Jesus is doing for you now at the right hand of God.

Confession: I am putting off the old man, and I am putting on the new man with new clothes and new righteousness. In Him, I am redeemed. In Him, I am holy. In Him, I am strong. In Him, I am righteous now. The anointing is in me. I am putting on the new man with new behavior. I am walking in Christ. I live in Christ. I make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. I put on the Lord Jesus Christ!

THE ANOINTING OF JESUS

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me… (Luke 4:18)

Jesus had to lay aside deity powers, humble Himself as a servant, and become a man in order to go to the cross. Mark Hankins

Jesus had to lay aside His powers of deity and become a man. He is God in the flesh, but He could not use His deity powers. It would have been illegal for Him to die on the cross and become the last Adam if He had used His deity powers.  He did not use anything that you and I do not have available today.

The only thing He used was the Word and the Holy Spirit. He was tempted in ways like you are. (Hebrews 4:15) He felt the same pressures you feel. He felt the same loneliness at times. He dealt with those challenges with the Word and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus found Himself in Isaiah 61 one day as He was reading through the book of Isaiah. Isaiah was prophesying something that was going to happen 1,000 years in the future. Jesus said, “That is Me right there where Isaiah said ‘The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me. He has anointed me’ …This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”(Luke 4:18-21)

Confession: The same anointing that was upon Jesus is inside of me. I am in Christ, the Anointed One!

THE KEY TO YOUR FUTURE

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (Galatians 5:24)

Most Christians allow their bodies to have their spirits gagged and tied up in the basement. Mark Hankins

The part of you that is born again is your spirit. It receives eternal life, but you still must do something with your mind and your body. It is possible to be saved or born again and still have your body out of whack. Your mind can still be controlled with wrong thinking. You will stay frustrated if your body or your mind is dominating your spirit.

Paul said that they that are in Christ have crucified the flesh with its affections.  Crucifixion is painful. This means that you deny your body certain things it wants to do, wants to say, and wants to consume. If you do just the opposite of what your body wants, you will be pleasing God.

The Holy Spirit wants to strengthen your spirit. Then your inner man will rise up and tell your body to shut up and line up with the Word. Your spirit man — your inward man — will do this!

Confession: I am strengthened with might by the Holy Spirit in my inner man. Christ dwells in my heart by faith and I am rooted and grounded in love. I am filled with all the fullness of God!  (Ephesians 3:16-19)

BLESSED TO SERVE

My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. (Psalm 34:2)

A servant has access to every place the master does because he is serving the master. Mark Hankins

When you are serving the Master, He gives you the keys to everything because He trusts your heart. That is how you got that close to Him to start with. He has watched you time and time again as you humbled yourself and said, “I am just here to serve. I am not here to promote myself.”

In 1 Peter 5:5-6, Peter said to put on the clothes of a servant. When you dress like a servant, you know you are a child of God. The more you wear the clothes of humility, the more Jesus says to you, “Let Me give you more keys for other rooms. I want to show you some other things that are in My house.” As a servant, you enter the Master’s room. He grants you access.

True humility boasts in the Lord and not in anything I have done or can do. I like to boast about who Jesus is and who I am in Him!

Confession: I make my boast in the Lord! It is not anything I have done or can do.It is who Jesus is and who I am in Him! I am dressing as a servant and humbling myself to be a blessing by serving!
