Living By Faith

BELIEVE IS A VERB

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (James 2:17)

Reasoning will not change an emotion, but action will!
Mark Hankins

I recently watched a man on television who said that he had written the first novel that had no verbs in it. He said it was full of nouns, adjectives, pronouns, and prepositions, but no verbs. They asked him how well the book was selling and he said, “not very well.” When asked why, he said, “Because it has no action.”

James 2:26 says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead so faith without works is dead also.” The Amplified Version says, “For as the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from (its) works of obedience is also dead.”

The word, believe is a verb and verbs always denote action. Faith, on the other hand, is a noun. However, effective faith (faith that gets results) must be translated into action.

Confession: I am a doer of the Word of God, not just a hearer only (James 1:22). My faith is in action! So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power [inoperative, dead]. (James 2:17 AMP)

THE TRAJECTORY OF FAITH

The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. (Psalm 138:8)

God is a champion at “putting” people in the right direction.
Mark Hankins

One day, I watched a championship golf match on television. One of the greatest golfers in the world stood on the green needing to make a very critical putt. He walked around the green and viewed the location of the ball from several different angles. He carefully prepared to putt as the crowd watched almost breathlessly. When he hit the ball, it looked like he putted the wrong way!

Amazingly, the ball turned and headed right into the hole. As the crowd cheered, I sat there amazed that he had made the putt. However, from my view, I could not see the lay of the land on the green. The golfer judged it perfectly and the ball landed right in the hole.

Every man or woman in Christ has a definite trajectory of faith and destiny. When it looks like God is putting you the wrong way, remember — He is a champion. He is able, by His Spirit, to get you in the right place at the right time to fulfill the call of God on your life.

Confession: God is “putting” me in the right direction. He is a champion. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me. (Psalm 138:8)

EXPOSED TO THE GLORY

The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth everyone speak of his glory. (Psalm 29:9)

The glory of God has the power to produce and birth things into your life that have never existed before.
Mark Hankins

I have some friends in Louisiana who raise cows. Whenever they take a cow to the auction, they have to disclose whether that cow has been “exposed” to a bull. When you get in the glory of God things are created. You will be able to conceive and new things will be born. God will put things in your spirit that you will give birth to nine months later.

The devil doesn’t want you to get in the glory because every time you come out, you are carrying something from heaven that is going to be born in this earth. Things that didn’t exist before will come into being when they are conceived in the glory of God. The devil wants you to stay religious, but when you get hungry for the glory of God, it will position you for something to be born in your life!

Confession: My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. (Psalm 84:2)

THE GLORY: GOD’S MANIFEST PRESENCE

O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for you, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.
(Psalm 63:1-2 AMP)

He will manifest His glory where He is invited, where somebody wants Him, and believes in Him.
Mark Hankins

Even though God is everywhere, He doesn’t manifest His presence everywhere. He will only manifest His glory where He is invited, where somebody wants Him, and believes in Him.

You must learn to let the Holy Spirit land on you. You will find out quickly that the Holy Spirit doesn’t land everywhere. If He hasn’t landed on you in a while, you might want to find out what is wrong with your landing strip! When the Holy Ghost lands on you, the glory of God is manifested. When the glory of God is manifested, things begin to change.

Confession: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. (Psalm 42:1)

EXPERIENCING THE GLORY FOR YOURSELF

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy GLORY, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. (Psalm 63:1-2)

God wants to do something in you that will shock a generation!
Mark Hankins

When Paul stood before King Agrippa he explained his experience with glory of the risen Christ. He said, “I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun…”(Acts 26:13)

I remember when I was 17 years old, I cried out and said, “God, show me your glory. I can’t live off my parents’ experience, sermon, or vision.” I wanted to experience the glory of God for myself.

God wants you to experience more glory this year than you did last year. Paul said every believer should not only have an initial experience with the glory, but should go from glory to glory.

Confession: But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
