PIONEERS, SETTLERS, AND MUSEUM KEEPERS

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. (Hebrews 11:24-25)

There are three kinds of people: pioneers, settlers, and museum keepers.  

  • Museum keepers are content to dust off the memories of previous generations and talk about the exploits of the past. They live off of the experiences of others and never see God’s power operate in their own

lives.  

  • Settlers travel for a while, but become weary of the journey and stop too soon. They get comfortable and never press on to the possibilities ahead.  Some of the tribes of Israel settled too soon and never crossed the Jordan with Joshua. 
  • Pioneers are those who venture into unknown or unclaimed territory. They are the ones who open up new areas; they prepare the way! 

We should qualify as pioneers because the spirit of faith never stops pressing on!  With God all things are possible! (Matthew 19:26)

Confession:The spirit of faith is a pioneer spirit. The spirit of faith in me will push out from the shore and launch into the deep at God’s Word. (Luke 5:4-5)

BELIEVE AND SPEAK

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)

The Word of God was spoken out of the mouth of God before it was written. God spoke it, men spoke it, and finally men penned it. It was spoken before it was written, and it was written so it might be spoken. II Timothy 3:16-17 says, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. When the Word says, given by inspiration of God, it literally means, God-breathed.

The Word of God in your mouth is tantamount to receiving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation from God! The spoken Word gives the life of God to everyone who has the spirit of faith. The spirit of faith believes, speaks, and acts on the Word of God.

Confession: I will believe and speak the Word of God. For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

SHOUTING, DANCING, AND RUNNING

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God… every one’s bands (chains) were loosed. (Acts 16:25-26))

The spirit of faith will cause you to shout while the walls are still standing, like God’s people did at Jericho before the walls came down (Joshua 6:20). The spirit of faith will cause you to dance like David did when the Ark of the Covenant was returned to Jerusalem and the glory returned (II Samuel 6:14-15). The spirit of faith may cause you to run like Elijah did when the hand of the Lord came upon him (I Kings 18:46). The rain he had prayed and contended for was coming, and he outran the king’s chariot. The spirit of faith will cause you to sing and praise God loudly, as Paul and Silas did at midnight when they were imprisoned in chains! (Acts16:25).

All of these demonstrations of the power of God were connected to the expressions of faith made by God’s people! God watches as we demonstrate faith and act on the Word!

Confession:I lift my voice with a shout of victory! My faith acts on the Word of God! I will rejoice in the Lord always! (Philippians 4:4)

THE MAIN EVENT

I am He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore. (Revelation 1:18)

There have been many important events in the history of man. The invention of the airplane by the Wright brothers and the expedition of Lewis and Clark are two events that turned the course of our country. As epic as those events were, they pale in comparison to the Main Event of all time and eternity-Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection!

The Main Event changed everything! It was so radical that it affected all of heaven and all of earth. Jesus is the “firstborn from the dead,” (Colossians 1:18) and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in the Gospel of Christ. You have access to that same power! It is in the Gospel of Christ! You don’t need more power; you need more Gospel!

Confession:  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

UNDERSTANDING RIGHTEOUSNESS

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17

Understanding you have God’s divine approval on your life sets you free from the sense of rejection, inadequacy or inferiority.  You are confident you have God’s approval.  You are free to receive God’s best blessings and to follow His plan for your life.  This confidence in God sets you free from constantly seeking approval from others.

One of the most misunderstood subjects in the Bible is righteousness. The Gospel of Christ is a revelation of the righteousness of God. The center of the Gospel reveals the righteousness of God.  I call righteousness a radical revelation, a revolutionary revelation. It is a reality that is produced for us by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Confession: The Gospel is the good news.  It is a weapon of might that begins with faith and produces faith.  God has made me righteous as He is . I am right with God!  I am whole and set free!
