Living By Faith

SEATED WITH CHRIST

He gave us life together with Christ. And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
(Ephesians 2:5-6 Phillips)

Before you can stand against the wiles of the devil and walk the Christian walk, you must learn how to sit.
Mark Hankins

A few years ago, Watchman Nee wrote a little book called Sit, Walk, and Stand. It is a short but powerful book about the book of Ephesians. There is a very simple progression here: sit, walk, and stand. People want to stand against the devil as described in Ephesians 6. They want to learn how to walk the Christian walk as outlined in Ephesians 4, but they have never learned how to sit as described in Ephesians 2.

You must take your place in the finished work of Christ. By “finished,” I mean Jesus has already done everything He is going to do about the devil, your righteousness, and your victory in life. He has already (past tense) taken care of it. Jesus has defeated the devil, spoiled him, stripped him, disarmed him, established your righteousness, given you victory, and sat down. God has already taken care of your victory in life. You do not have to do it. All you have to do is sit down!

Confession: God has already taken care of the devil, my righteousness, and my victory in life! I am sitting down!

THE SAME STUFF

I consider myself as having died and now enjoying a second existence, which is simply Jesus using my body. (Galatians 2:20 Distilled Bible)

You have an identical condition with Christ; He took your place in His death.
Mark Hankins

Paul understood that Christ lives in you and me. What does this mean? It means you have the same righteousness, the same life, the same power, the same triumph, the same spirit, the same stuff, and the same blessing Christ has. You are an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. You are joined to Him. Your spirit is joined to Christ. This makes it difficult to be defeated, doesn’t it? Paul understood that Christ lives in you and me.

Jesus was made to be sin for us on the cross. He took our sin. He died our death, and He took our place. When you see the cross, you see man’s condition in Adam, which is man’s condition outside of God. Man is a sinner separated from God. Jesus died the death of the sinner; He was treated the same as a sinner would be in the sight of God.

He took the same condition you had, so when He was raised from the dead, you could have that identical condition. He took your place in His death, thereby giving you the same life He has in His resurrection.

Confession: I have the same righteousness, the same life, the same power, the same triumph, the same spirit, the same stuff, and the same blessing Christ has!

“LEGO” BIBLE BUILDING BLOCKS

Whosoever shall say… believe those things which he saith… he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mark 11:23)

Words are the building blocks of faith. Mark Hankins

In Mark 11:23, Jesus said “believe” once. He said “say” or “saith” three times. The speaking part is vital to faith. Faith is released or put to work by speaking.

Jesus used three different Greek words for the speaking part of faith in Mark 11:23. The first “say” is the Greek word epo, which means command. It shows the authority of the believer. The second reference to speaking that Jesus used was the word “saith.”  This word in the Greek is laleo, which means to speak out; use your own voice; be bold!  The third reference to speaking is also the word saith.  However, this Greek word is lego; it means systematic discourse.

Jesus was giving us a lego set of building blocks to teach us how to frame our world according to the picture or diagram He has given us in the Word of God. The Bible gives us a lego set of building blocks for salvation, healing, blessing, prosperity, and victory in life. Take the Word of God and build.

Confession: I have victory in Jesus. My life is blessed! My future is built on the Word of God!

PRISONERS OF WORDS

Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. (Proverbs 6:2)

If you’re not happy with what you have in life, check out what you’ve been saying. Kenneth E. Hagin

Many people are prisoners of their words; what they say is holding them hostage. Proverbs 6:2 in the Jerusalem Bible says, “…through words of yours you have been entrapped.”  The Basic English version says, “…the sayings of your lips have overcome you.”

James 3 tells us that your tongue will determine the direction and destiny of your life. You are a believer in the Word of God. You must speak what you believe for victory to be yours.

The confession of your lips that grows out of faith in your heart will absolutely defeat the adversary in every combat. When you hold fast to your confession of faith and allow those words to register in your spirit, Satan cannot win!

Confession: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”  (Proverbs 18:21) I will not be held captive by my words any longer. I will speak the Word of God concerning every circumstance and situation in my life. I am a believer in God’s Word. I have the victory!

SHOUT FOR THE VICTORY

Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

No man can doubt when he learns to shout! Smith Wigglesworth

The spirit of faith will often cause a person to look as foolish as Naaman did, when the prophet Elisha told him to dip seven times in the muddy Jordan River (II Kings 5:14).  What God required of Naaman for his healing from leprosy was not difficult, but it seemed too foolish. Naaman’s reasoning almost made him miss his miracle. He finally acted on the prophet’s word and was totally healed!

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” (I Corinthians 1:27)

In Romans 4:17, we read of Abraham:  “I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”  Smith Wigglesworth said, “You must learn to take the victory and shout in the face of the devil, ‘It is done!’”

Confession:  I will shout, “It is done!” in the face of the devil and take my victory. It is not by my might, but by the Spirit of God that I will see my miracle come to pass.
