Living By Faith

BRAGGING ON REDEMPTION

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. (Philemon 6)

In all of your teaching and preaching, you must always leave people with the consciousness of the triumph of Christ.
John G. Lake

People think it makes God happy for them to talk about everything they are not. Would it make you happy if your kids came in every day and told you everything they are not? E. W. Kenyon said, “The reason that the majority of Christians are weak, though they are earnest, yet they are weak, is because they have never dared to make a confession of what they are in Christ.”

Some people get upset with this truth; they think they are being humble when they continually run themselves down. When a believer assumes this attitude, he is not only being ignorant, he is opening the door to the devil.

You need to acknowledge who you are in Christ and the good things that are in you because you are in Him. We know that in ourselves we can do nothing. We have already proven that! In other words, you are not really bragging on yourself; you are bragging on redemption!

Confession: I am triumphant in Christ! In Him I am redeemed. I am not trying to be, hoping to be, or going to be–in Him I am righteous now!

HE GAVE US THE SAME LIFE

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins…Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ. (Ephesians 2:1,5)

The same spirit of faith, the same life, the same Holy Spirit, and the same power that quickened Christ also quickens us.
Mark Hankins

God has quickened us with Christ. What does the word, “quickened,” mean? The word “quicken” means He made us alive together with Christ.

The Gospel is not the good news that God wants to help you; it is the good news that God has already helped you! God gave us the very life of Christ Himself: the same new life with which He quickened Him. Whatever that life did in Christ, it does in you.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:13, “We having the same spirit of faith.” The same spirit of faith, the same life, the same Holy Spirit, and the same power that quickened Christ also quickens us. When you discover that you have the same life in you that is in Jesus, the devil becomes very afraid of you! You really cannot be defeated in life when you understand the same, identical life that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you!

Confession: The same life, the same spirit, and the same power that quickened Christ dwells in me!

MADE ALIVE WITH CHRIST

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places… (Ephesians 1:20)

Everything God did in Christ, He did for you, and it is credited to your account as if you did it.
Mark Hankins

What really happened 2,000 years ago in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ? What was God working out when He raised Christ from the dead? What was wrought in Christ? “Which he wrought,” means what He worked, what happened, or what God did in Christ when He raised Him from the dead. Here’s what He wrought: He “hath put all things under his feet.” (Ephesians 1:22)

In the original Greek, there are no chapter divisions in Paul’s letters. The King James Version translators made chapter divisions for ease in writing and reading the Bible. There is no stopping place in Paul’s letters. Actually, he says, “Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. And you…” (Ephesians 1:23; 2:1) You need to underline “and you.” What God wrought in Christ was for you.

Are you finding yourself in Christ? What God did in Christ, He did for you!

Confession: Everything God did in Christ, He did for me, and it is credited to my account as if I did it!

LIVING IN THIS NEW PLACE

I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
(Exodus 17:14)

You can live and pray from your new place of identification with Christ.
Mark Hankins

God is going to take care of you so well that you will not even remember your past. The old person you used to be is dead and gone. You are seated with Him right now in heavenly places. That is a place of authority. You cannot get any higher than that! You can live and pray from your new place of identification with Christ.

God will give you answers in every area of your life. Anything you need help for–your marriage, prosperity, or healing–is in your identification with Christ.

It is like the Arc of Triumph in Paris, France. The streets of Paris go out like spokes on a wheel from the Arc of Triumph, which is the center of the city. You can get anywhere downtown Paris from the Arc of Triumph.

The same is true about Christianity. The center of the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. You can get anywhere you need to go from there when you see your identification with Christ!

Confession: I am seated with Christ in heavenly places. I can live and pray from my new place of identification with Christ!

DEAD TO SIN, ALIVE TO GOD

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:11)

When you grasp the doctrine of what God has done for you in Christ, it becomes the center of your deliverance, redemption, and sanctification.
Mark Hankins

Paul says to “reckon” or count it to be so by faith. Reckon yourself to be dead indeed unto sin but alive unto God. Sometimes you should say to yourself, “I am dead to sin.” One translation says, “inert and motionless as a corpse in response to sin.” When sin comes around, say to it, “I am inert. I am motionless as a corpse. I am dead to sin!”

Sometimes people think if they can just get a certain evangelist to lay hands on them, their problems will go away. But your problems will remain unless you have received an understanding of who you are in Christ. The devil will try to challenge you saying, “Who do you think you are?” Thank God for the anointing, but you must live by faith saying, “I am who God says I am.” The just shall live by faith!

Confession: I am dead indeed to sin but alive unto God through Jesus Christ my Lord!
