Living By Faith

THE POWER TO CHOOSE

Death and life are in the power of the tongue… (Proverbs 18:21)

“Your words can limit you or loose you.” – Mark Hankins

Language is unique to man. God created us as eternal spirit beings in His image with the power of speech. James chapter 3 clearly tells us that the tongue determines our direction and destiny.  We have the power to choose blessing or cursing, life or death. (Deuteronomy 30:19) The Lord Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that “Whosoever…shall have whatsoever he saith.”  Words determine the boundaries and set limits on our lives. Believing and speaking are the two most fundamental ingredients in faith, and the Gospel is the language of faith.

I have heard the testimonies of two people who died and came back from the dead. I found it quite interesting that both said when their spirits returned to their bodies, they entered through their mouths. That makes sense because God breathed the breath of life into Adam’s mouth. If your spirit enters or exits your body through your mouth, why would the impact of words or speech on our lives seem strange?

Confession: I choose to speak words of life and blessing. “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

SUPERNATURAL PROMOTION

Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility — as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance — toward one another.  For God sets Himself against the proud — the insolent, the over-bearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful, and opposes, frustrates and defeats them — but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves (demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation) under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you. (1 Peter 5:5-6 Amplified)

“If God takes you up, no one can take you down!” – Mark Hankins

We are to honor people who have had an impact upon us spiritually. Even though they may not be perfect, as we honor them we will have the blessing of God in our lives.

We honor these men and women of God by serving them and by giving to them financially. There is a due time when God will exalt you. When He takes you up, no one can bring you down. If someone else promotes you, you can lose it all. If God takes you up, no one can take you down!

Confession: I humble myself (demote and lower myself in my own estimation) under the mighty hand of God, and in due time, He will exalt me!

HUMBLE YOURSELF

Likewise you that are younger and of lesser rank be subject to the elders — the ministers and spiritual guides of the church, giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel.  Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility. (1 Peter 5:5  Amplified)

“You need to humble yourself in three ways: to those over you, to those around you, and to those under you.” – Mark Hankins

First, humble yourself to those who are over you in the Lord. Your pastor is over you as a spiritual father. The Bible talks about double honor for the man or woman of God who has given you spiritual things.

Second, humble yourself to those around you. If you do not humble yourself to those around you, you will never have a proper, lasting relationship with them.

Third, humble yourself to those under you. Be nice to those on your way up, or you may meet them on your way down.

The Lord once told me, “This is one of the keys to your prosperity. It is a greater key than giving to the poor or needy. You have to honor those who are over you in the Lord.  When you do that, I will bring their honor on you.”

Confession: I humble myself today by giving honor to whom honor is due. I am blessed as I honor those over me, those around me and those under me!

GOD IS GIVING YOU A CHANGE OF CLOTHES

And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. (Zechariah 3:4)

“God is dressing you in prosperity!” Mark Hankins

God said, “I am going to dress you up in some new clothes.”  The Amplified Bible says, “I will clothe you with rich apparel.”  Here are some different kinds of clothes the Bible says to put on:

  1. A robe of righteousness of who you are in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  2. A garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3)
  3. The power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49) (Pray in the Holy Spirit until what is on the inside of you gets on the outside of you.)
  4. Your glory clothes (Psalm 8:5) (Get in the presence of God until you are wearing glory on your countenance.)
  5. Humility (1 Peter 5:5)

Confession: I am wearing a robe of righteousness and a garment of praise! I walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and glory of God. I am clothed with humility. I am dressed in prosperity in Christ!
